I learned about this book from Ali Abdaal’s YouTube channel. As someone new to design and looking to build an online presence, I wasn’t sure what to share. Ali, who has a lot of experience and gives great advice, really recommended this book. He said it helped him start his YouTube channel. I decided to read it too, hoping it could help me figure out what to do online.
My primary goal in reading this book is to help me deal with and get over my worry about sharing my work. Sometimes, I feel scared to show others what I have done because I am new in the industry and I'm not sure if it's good enough. I hope this book will give me ideas about what to share.
I don't need to be a genius; I just need to find a scenius.Â
I don’t have to be an expert in a particular field to share what I know; it's about the value I can add. People in similar situations can learn from my failures and successes. By sharing my experiences, I contribute to the collective knowledge and, importantly, I ensure that I am contributing something rather than nothing.
I often wondered how I could possibly share my work or ideas when there are many more experienced designers out there. This self-doubt changed after reading a transformative book. It underscored that everyone's journey is unique and worth sharing, not despite our differences, but because of them.

Sharing the day-to-day process does more than just outline one's professional life; it invites others into their world. You might be surprised by how much your journey resonates with others. Why not share a piece of your daily routine or a project insight? It could be the very story someone else needs to hear.
The value of your work is significantly impacted by the stories you tell about it. This idea is illustrated in a book which discusses how the willingness of people to pay for a painting is influenced by the narrative provided to the buyer. The way we talk about the work we do profoundly affects how people feel and understand it.
A well-structured story typically unfolds in three key parts: the initial problem, the journey to solve the problem, and the resolution.
It's important to use plain language and keep the story brief to ensure your audience remains engaged and can easily follow along.
I am motivated to persevere until I achieve my goals. This journey is about persistence, about not giving up even when the going gets tough or when results aren’t immediately visible. It's essential to stay committed and keep pushing forward, regardless of the obstacles that may come.
â—Ź Even for professionals, the best way to flourish is to retain an amateur's spirit and embrace uncertainty and the unknown.
â—Ź The best way to get started on the path to sharing your work is to think about what you want to learn, and make a commitment to learning it in front of others.
â—Ź Become a documentation of what you do.
● We don’t always know what’s good and what sucks. That’s why it’s important to get things in front of others and see how they react.
● Sometimes you don’t always know what you’ve got.
â—Ź A two-sentence explanation is usually what the world wants from us. Keep it short and sweet.
â—Ź The people who get what they're after are very often the ones who just stick around long enough.
● You can’t count on success; you can only leave open the possibility for it, and be ready to jump on and take the ride when it comes for you.
